Season 2 Tip-Off! Excited For 2021-22 CBB Season!

First, thanks to everyone who listened to the College Hoops Chat radio show or visited this website so far. It was not always easy starting up College Hoops Chat in the middle of a pandemic! But we still enjoyed a successful first season, and we’re grateful for the kind support we received – we even got calls from California!

Thanks to all the guests – we had more than 25 guests last season. Special thanks to CBB Broadcaster Vin Parise, who not only is a fantastic guest, but he always makes himself available to answer questions or offer advice. We really enjoyed chatting with former Iona Coach Pat Kennedy, who was nice enough to be a guest multiple times, and we got many compliments on his interviews. Guy Falotico of www.IonaHoops.com has been a great friend to our show, and we enjoy covering the Iona Gaels with him.

Of course, Ken Nixon, a/k/a #KennyFromRye, has been a star on our show! He called in every week, did research and offered thoughtful analysis. Ken and I grew up together (went to same grammar and high school), so it was more fun to do this show with an old friend.

Several other prominent people in the college basketball world were nice enough to come on the show, and we thank them for giving us a big boost in our first season: Mike Vaccaro, Dick “Hoops” Weiss, Casey Stanley, Bob Walsh, Jaden Daley, Tristan Freeman, John Whittle, Tom Fraher (another high school friend) and several others.

So it’s onward and upward for College Hoops Chat in Season 2! We’re improving our coverage this season in the following ways:

  1. I will be doing a post on this website every Friday (today is #1). Over the next month, we will be sharing season previews here.
  2. We’re looking forward to attending games and sharing live video commentary.
  3. We’re continuing to reach out across the country to invite more high-profile guests.
  4. Rather than share the entire radio show on social media each week as we did last season, we will now be sharing our specific interviews with guests.
  5. We hope to hold public events at local sites to discuss college hoops.
